I'm playing Dragon age 2 and I realized that mages (if they have the strength requirements) can wear armor, so I decided that I'd attempt to get templar armor because of the armor/robe combo that would be pretty cool for a mage character. I looked it up on the wiki and it says you can find it in 2 known places, however neither of those places sell it. I then checked the place where you can get it in act 2 in a chest, that also does not have it, but instead it has a shield. Is it not allowed to be in-game for a mage character? (if so then that sucks considering I've built my mage's strength up for the armor.) the dragon age wiki yields no answers for me.Dragon Age 2: Can you wear templar armor as a mage?
Dragon Age 2 drops and store items are decided by your character class. If you're a mage, chests and monsters will drop mage equipment (other than the random drops appropriate for everyone, such as amulets and rings, or stuff to equip to your followers). There are some items that appear in the same place in every game regardless of the PC's class, such as Bloom (double-handed weapon in Act 3, Sundermount), but templar armor isn't one of those. In order to get templar armor, you would have to be a warrior since only warriors have the specialization to equip it.Dragon Age 2: Can you wear templar armor as a mage?
As with Origins, the Templar armor is restricted to the Templar class-specialization of the Warrior class. Mages and Rogues are unable to wear this armor. Sorry :(.
